KYU & DAN SYLLABUS

Official examination syllabus for International Shotokan Karate Federation of India. Training progression includes Kihon, Kata and Kumite according to rank.

KYU Examination

The Kyu syllabus provides a progressive training system from Yellow Belt through Brown Belt. Students develop fundamental techniques, kata, kumite and control as they progress.

Training Structure

Each grading level builds on previously learned techniques. Students should practice Kihon, Kata and Kumite consistently under the guidance of an authorized instructor.

10th Kyu — Yellow Belt

  • Chudan Ude Uke turn back — Kokutsu Shuto Uke

  • Sanbon-Jodan / Chudan (to the count)

9th–8th Kyu — Orange Belt

KYU 9–8
Kihon
  • Chudan Oi Zuki step back — Jodan Age Uke
  • Chudan Ude Uke turn back — Kokutsu Shuto Uke
  • Mae Geri Chudan turn — Mae Geri Jodan, side Snap, side Thrust both

  • Heian Nidan
  • Sanbon-Jodan / Chudan (No-count)

7th–6th Kyu — Green Belt

Kihon
  • Chudan Oi Zuki step back — Jodan Age Uke
  • Chudan Ude Uke step back — Kokutsu Shuto Uke
  • Yoko Keage / Kekomi (both sides)
  • Mae Geri Chudan turn back — Mae Geri Jodan

5th Kyu — Blue Belt
