The journey of the International Shotokan Karate Federation of India — from its foundation and reformation to its growth across India.
International Shotokan Karate Federation of India
International Shotokan Karate Federation of India was founded by 1995 and was later reformed by Sensei Shiv K. Panchal in 2006.
Also formed his school by the name Nihon Karate do Sho Bu Kai in 2006.
First Official ISKF India Master Camp
First Official ISKF India Master Camp was held in 2008 conducted by Shihan Larry Frank Loreth from Canada. General Body meeting conducted by Shihan Larry Loreth and Sensei Shiv K. Panchal in Gurgaon, Haryana, India.
Shihan Larry F. Loreth was appointed as Chairman of Technical Committee in the 2008 meeting at Gurgaon, Haryana, India.
- ISKF India officially approved by All India Karate Do Federation (National Governing Body in India) under direction of Sensei Shiv K. Panchal in 2008.
- ISKF India Team participated in World Master Camp in Philadelphia, USA under Sensei Shiv K. Panchal in 2009. All reports of ISKF India were submitted at Shihan Teruyuki Okazaki.
International Competition & Dan Examination
- In 2009 ISKF India team participated in International Okazaki Cup-2009 at Manila, Philippines USA under Sensei Shiv K. Panchal.
- First Time Dan Examination attended by ISKF India team in Manila, Philippines under Master Teruyuki Okazaki-2009.
- In 2009 ISKF India Team again participated in International Okazaki Cup-2010 at Manila, Philippines USA.
- In this event ISKF India achieved its first Bronze Medal by Sensei Shiv K. Panchal in Black Belt Kata at an international event of International Shotokan Karate Federation.
Expansion Across India
- In 2010 again ISKF India Team participated in World Master Camp in Philadelphia, USA.
- In 2010 ISKF India spread in Haryana, Punjab, Maharastra, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, U.P., Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu and Karnataka under great leadership of Sensei Shiv K. Panchal.
- Sensei has visited many states to take seminars to promote ISKF all over India.
- In 2010 our three players were selected in Commonwealth Karate Championship in South Africa.
Registration with Government of India
In 2011, International Shotokan Karate Federation of India became a registered unit of Government of India (Haryana).
From 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, ISKF India players continued winning medals in official National Tournaments organized by All India Karate Do Federation, the National Governing Body in India.
World Shoto Cup Visa Incident
In 2012 ISKF India faced a major incident while applying for visas to participate in WORLD SHOTO Cup. The Embassy denied their visas without giving reasons.
ISKF India took action against the Embassy. After a long effort, the Vice President of Philippines directly wrote an email to the Embassy in India asking for the reason for refusal of ISKF Team visas. The matter was subsequently solved.
Leadership Reorganisation
- After this incident Sensei Shiv K. Panchal gave their resignation to annual governing body meeting of ISKF India in March 2013.
- By request of ISKF India members he changed his decision to leave ISKF India.
- All members appointed him again President of ISKF India.
- ISKF India appointed Regional Directors in SOUTH, NORTH, EAST and WEST parts of India in 2013.
The Journey Continues — ISKF India
From its early foundation to its expansion across different states, ISKF India continues its journey of promoting traditional Shotokan Karate through players, instructors, seminars, camps and national and international participation.
